One of my favorite cities in souther Spain is Cadiz. This place is a very popular summer destination, because of its location is right on the beach. You can't ask for too much more in this little town. It has a little bit of everything. You can hit the beach all day, watch the sunset, take a siesta, eat some great food, and find good night life.
I had met some travelers in Tarifa (Spain) who told me that I should stay in this hostel called Casa Caracol (snail in spanish). They said it was the best hostel in Cadiz.

When I arrived at the bus station in Cadiz I was traveling with this girl from Israel. We got a map of the city and started making our way to the hostel. It was about a 15 minute walk which wasn't too bad. When we showed up to the hostel it was 9am. It turned out there was 1 bed available for 20 Euros. That really didn't work for 2 people so we were stuck! This is what happened when you don't book hostels ahead of time while traveling in the Europe during the summer.
The owner was actually pretty cool, and said since he didn't have any other beds that I could sleep on the rooftop on a hammock for 10 Euros! I had no problem with that. Luck was on my side, because if I didn't get in here I don't know where I would have stayed!
The hostel was laid out pretty cool. The first floor had a big kitchen with a huge table for everybody to eat. They had a computer with free Internet which is always cool. They also had a 6 person room on the first floor.
The 2nd and 3rd floors were set up the same with rooms and community showers. I had to keep climbing the stairs until I arrived on the roof out of breath. The stairs were pretty steep and with my backpack on it was a good little hike. It turned out that the roof was another area for people to chill on. So I basically put my bag under a chair and left it here. I figured that if anybody want to steal a tshirt or my underwear they can have it at this point. The hammock turned out to be not that bad. There were also two other people that decided to stay up there. You can't beat a place to stay for 10 Euros. It was always a little funny when you had to ask some people to move while trying to get stuff out of your bag.
All the workers at the hostel turned out to be really chill and the travelers were really friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody that is looking for a hostel in Cadiz!
